Q is for Quiet

In our society we rarely take time to be still and listen. We are too busy rushing; rushing to get ready in the morning, to mass produce at work, and then to get one of the kids to practice and having to rush to pick-up the other child from somewhere else. Just to get home and rush to get homework done, rush to get dinner fixed, and the million other things that have to be completed before the sun rises the next morning and we start all over again. It's no wonder our society is so dependent upon caffeine and other addictive ways of keeping up with what is expectant of us.

"It is good that one should wait quietly for the salvation of the Lord." Lamentation 3:26

When was the last time you were quiet in prayer?

However, it is important to take time for ourselves; both mentally and physically. The other day, now that spring poked it's head out, I went and enjoyed a pedicure. Not that I had the money to do so, but I had received a gift certificate. I know a couple years ago, I dove deeply into devotionals because I was submerging myself within His word and studying life's instructions. If you seek foolish behavior, than foolishness will surely find you... make sure you do something that isn't stressful.

"A fool gives full vent to his spirit, but a wise man quietly holds it back." Proverbs 29:11

"And to aspire to live quietly, and to mind your own affairs, and to work with your hands, as we instructed you, so that you may walk properly before outsiders and be dependent on no one." 1 Thessalonians 4:11-12

When was the last time you did something just for yourself?
